There seems to be an epidemic afoot in today’s adult population. There is a condition that affects over sixty percent of adults in the United States alone. This condition is obesity. More and more people are overweight today than ever, and it seems that we are simply getting fatter and fatter. However, unlike cancer or getting hit by a meteorite, there is actually something you can do to fight this horrible condition.

Despite the billions of resources you can literally find at your fingertips on the subject, there really is only two things you need to do to lose weight. Exercise more, and eat less. It appears to be so easy, but why does it seem so difficult? Two reasons. We like to eat, and we don’t like to exercise.

Sure, it would be great if somebody would come up with a lose weight while you sleep diet, that didn’t require any willpower or effort. Until somebody that comes up with a miracle drug that somehow manages to break the laws of chemistry and physiology, we’re stuck with diet and exercise. Exercise and diet. Going on a diet is a great help, but unless you mix in some decent exercise, you may not notice the results that you wish. You must, at some point, start some kind of exercise program.

Don’t worry, I’m not advocating running down to your local gym and signing up for the ultra-gold lifetime membership for a hundred dollars a month. Starting slow is by far the best way to begin any exercise program. Really slow. There is one exercise that is so often overlooked, but has been part of the human experience for thousands of years. What is it? Walking. Yes, you read that right. If you go for only a short walk once a day, either at night or in the morning, you’ll notice fantastic results.

Walking for weight loss can deliver wonderful peace of mind as well as consistent weight loss. Simply by putting in a few minutes every day of easy walking, you’re on a great start to lifelong improvement. Pretty soon you’ll start to walk further, and faster. And you’ll notice your eating habits will begin to change as well.

Naturally, getting started is the most important part. Just like that wise old sage said, a journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. Your easy path to weight loss and happiness begins once you strap some shoes on your feet and head outside. Your spirit and physical body will be grateful.
